What are veneers?
Thin, wafer-like material placed over the front surface of a tooth to improve appearance and protect from damage. Applications:
- Restoring fractured teeth
- Hiding permanent stains
- Closing excessive gaps
- Smile makeovers
We offer three types: porcelain, composite and Lumineers. Porcelain is most popular. Composite is ideal if you want one-visit, no anesthesia, lower cost. Lumineers — no tooth reduction, translucent color.
How Dr. Shi applies porcelain veneers
Visit 1 · Consultation
Dr. Shi determines which type suits you. Examine teeth, gums and bite. X-rays may be needed.
Visit 2 · Preparation & scan
Anesthesia administered; thin enamel reduction for fit. 3D scan sent to lab. Temporary veneer placed.
Visit 3 · Final placement (after ~2 weeks)
Verify fit, look and color. Dr. Shi cements the new veneers permanently.
Lumineers
For improving your smile without tooth reduction or anesthesia. Translucent, so color matching isn't required. Not suitable for bulky, flared or dark teeth. Up to 20 years before replacement.
